Been sitting on this for far too long. Time to grind out the beginning so the rest happens too.
Hello and Welcome To Smith Rage!
My name is Alec,
This creative road is the one I believe to be most taken. It’s to those who are like myself; share this road, that i will try to speak to. If you are more bold and fearless than I then I welcome you here and please let me know what you think.
There is a passion inside many of us. A passion to make and create something of value. It could be for ourselves or to be shared with others and this passion can fill our minds and spark a small fire under our butts.
That fire? Well we think about what we want to create, and we start the tasks of preparing to embark upon our great idea.
It happens in that preparation that we get sidetracked. We get stressed over the thought of all the prep work that is involved in starting something (eg. I want to finish my basement! But then I have to put all my stuff into storage and then I gotta clean the floor and pull a building permit and… aw hell with it all i’ll do it later) or just as we have the idea, we figure we can start off with a bit of relaxing first. We deserve it. Before you know it Netflix and video games are your life and your creative dreams just kinda fizzle.
Keep on doing this year after year and you will notice two things happen.
One- you have loads of banked ideas to work from
Two- you have gotten older, and life has not made anything easier (depending on your situation)
So now we wait don’t we? For the right time to start something. After tax season? When the project at work is done? Yeah… Been there too.
Well I woke up recently and just said to myself F**K it! I'm starting.
You don't need to be a great writer to start writing anything.(as you are already reading that is clearly true) Practice makes you better.
You don't need all the tools the professionals have to start creating. You should learn basics and see what you can do with what you have.
So! Feel free to follow along and I will do my best to entertain while hopefully inspire you to do the same.
Along the way I will be sharing any information sources that I have found to be of great value, and share with you here some more of the difficulties I have faced along the way.
To quote Ze-Frank
“There is no need to sharpen my pencils anymore, my pencils are sharp enough. Even the dull ones will make a mark.”
Love Alec
